Hot Packs / Cold Packs

Moist Hot Packs

Moist hot packs relieve muscle spasm and pain, aid in the absorption of inflammatory products, produce relaxation, and increase perspiration. They are often used effectively on sprains and strains, prior to chiropractic adjustments, preparatory to exercising stiff joints, and in cases of low-back pain associated with arthritis and muscle spasm, except in acute stages.

Cold Packs (Cryotherapy)

Small cold packs are applied locally as in a compress to reduce swelling after sprains or contusions by producing local vasoconstriction and reducing bleeding to injured tissues, and to decrease swelling and pain in acute bursitis and fibrositis.
